Tulsa Innovation Labs LLC (TIL) is a tech-led economic development organization headquartered in Tulsa, OK pioneered by the George Kaiser Family Foundation. Rose Rock Bridge is an entrepreneurial support organization dedicated to commercializing breakthrough technologies for leading Fortune 500 energy corporations such as Williams, H&P, ONEOK, and Devon Energy. We specialize in transforming high-impact innovations from lab to market, fostering early partnerships with potential off-takers, and providing comprehensive IP support, dilutive and non-dilutive funding, applications for federal grants, and more. We also have a co-located $50mm seed-stage VC fund to provide access to capital for select startups. The technologies we have brought to market to date solve for some of the toughest challenges in hard-to-abate industries such as resilience of energy assets, preparedness for extreme weather events, and longevity of midstream energy infrastructure. This year we are supporting 15 high-potential technologies in the areas of enhanced geothermal, critical minerals, methane management, and produced water.

Position Summary

As a Technology Transfer Manager, you will play a pivotal role in identifying, managing, and commercializing cutting-edge technologies from university tech transfer offices, national labs, and other sources. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong relationship-building skills to align emerging technologies with the innovation priorities and pain points of our strategic partners. This position is fundamental for developing emerging technologies for Rose Rock Bridge and the Tulsa Hub for Equitable & Trustworthy Autonomy (THETA).

Responsibilities / Essential Job Function
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with university tech transfer offices, national labs, and other technology sources to create a robust pipeline of innovations for Rose Rock Bridge and Tulsa Innovation Labs.
  • Technology Repository Development: Develop and manage a comprehensive repository / dynamic database of technologies, ensuring they are aligned with the strategic priorities and challenges identified with program partners.
  • 
Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with tech transfer offices, innovation centers, incubators, entrepreneurs / principal investigators, and internal teams to ensure strategic alignment.

  • Events and Networking: Represent Rose Rock Bridge and Tulsa Innovation Labs at relevant events including AUTM, prominent IEEE conferences, ARPA-E Summit, etc.
  • 
Coordinate IP-specific processes: For selected startups, help coordinate dialogue between tech transfer offices and internal legal representatives for purposes of patent filing and prosecution, option agreements, licensing agreements, etc. 

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.  Advanced degrees such as an MBA, JD, Masters in Engineering Management (MEM), or related fields are preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in technology transfer, product development, or startup environments, showcasing the ability to drive projects from concept to fruition.

  • Prior experience in energy and autonomous systems is preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate with team members
Competencies, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong understanding of technical or engineering concepts related to emerging technologies is required.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with a keen ability to identify and capitalize on emerging technological trends.

  • Knowledge of intellectual property (IP) law and experience managing IP-related issues in technology transfer is an advantage.

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding and strategic alignment across diverse teams.

  • Existing network and rolodex of technology transfer offices.

  • Excellent relationship-building skills to manage and maintain partnerships with external technology sources.

Hours & Location
  • Position is based in Tulsa within Rose Rock Bridge offices at 5th Floor, 100 S. Cincinnati Ave.

  • Typical work hours are Monday – Friday from 8:00 to 5:00, with flexibility required for various events, meetings, and relevant business needs.

  • Travel regionally, nationally, and internationally required up to 25% of the time.
